Tulia, Texas— Charlie George, 80, died Friday, November 7, 2008 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2008 in the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Helms, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. George was born January 5, 1928 on the Rodgers Rranch in Swisher County where he spent most of his childhood growing up. He moved to Broadwater, Nebraska in 1965 and worked for the County as a heavy equipment operator. He retired and moved back to Tulia in 1999. He married Margaret Brill Rush in March 2002. In his retirement years he like repairing and refurbishing small engines and lawnmowers. Survivors include his wife; Margaret George of Tulia, one son and daughter-in-law; Don and Kay George of Tulia, three daughters and two sons-in-law; Carole June and Gary Moore of Phoenix, Arizona, Sharla Kay and Wayne Behan of Omaha, Nebraska and Willa Kelly of Lake City, Florida, five brothers; Tommy George of Kress, Robert George of Morton, Benny Wayne George of Hurst, Bill George of Plainview and Kenneth George of Lubbock, two sisters; Gladys Fambro of Tulia and Carol Barrett of Ft. Worth, 25 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great grandchildren, 2 step-great, great grandchildren.
