Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, Charlie T Burrus went home to his Father at 3:23 a.m. Sunday, January 22, 2006 at his home in Plainview. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. January 24, 2006 at Garland Street Church of Christ with Russell Harris, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Olton Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Charlie, known to his grandchildren as “char-char” was born on September 30, 1944 in Lubbock to Charlie Paul and Margaret Owen Burrus of Olton. He Graduated from Olton High School in 1963 and married his childhood sweetheart, Tommy Witten on July 10, 1964. Charlie earned a B.S. in Agriculture Education from Texas Tech University in 1968. Following Graduation, Charlie taught school at Springlake/Earth for a year before going to work for Asgrow Seed Company where he was in sales for the next three years. Charlie and Tommy moved to the Edmonson area in 1971 where he began farming. Charlie served on the Boards of the Edmonson COOP Gin and the Olton Junior Livestock Show as well as the Olton School Board where he served as president four of his eleven years on the board. Charlie served the Lord as a Deacon, first at Main Street Church of Christ in Olton and most recently at Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview. He is survived by his wife Tommy Witten Burrus of Plainview; one daughter Kauli sparks and husband Darrell of Lubbock, one son Boe Deak Burrus and his wife Marsha of Houston; one sister Naomi Burrus Gonzales and husband Robert of Lake Coleman; four grandchildren Kieffer and Cutter Sparks, Brody and Hannah Burrus; Great Uncle Doug Owen and wife Wanda of Sweetwater. Charlie is preceded in death by one brother Edd Lynn Burrus. Memorials may be made to Hearts and Hooves of Lubbock, P.O.
