Gordon Rogers, 80, of Plainview, passed away at 12:07 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Rogers was born on January 24, 1925 in Hale Center to Luther and Ruth Rowland Rogers. He grew up in the Plainview area and farmed until WWII. During the war he served in the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division. He had went through France, Germany and Austria in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also involved in the Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp. Gordon married Jo Ann Harvey in Clovis November 8, 1949. He owned and operated Rogers Texaco from 1951 until he retired in 1990. He is a member of Pastor’s Class and of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Rogers of Plainview; two sons Ronny Rogers and wife Jill of Amarillo, Glenn and Shelda Rogers of Plainview; three grandchildren Brandy Wilson and husband Russell, Chesna Rogers, Luke Rogers; one great grandaughter Sydney Wilson.
