Winfred Blackerby(Tulia)

Kress, Texas—Winfred Blackerby, 75, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Graveside services will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, November 13, 2008 in the Kress Cemetery with Rev. Kerry Drake, pastor of Claytonville Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Blackerby was born August 23, 1933 in Swisher County. He grew up and worked on the family farm. He started school in the Whitfield Community and finished at Kress Schools. He farmed until 1973 when he started selling tractors for Scott Tractor Company. He was currently a maintainer operator for Swisher County. He married Abbie Gail Blaine on December 30, 1950 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife: Gail Blackerby of Kress, one daughter: Teresa Anderson of Haskell, three sons: Erwin Blackerby of Seymour, Vinson Blackerby of Canyon and Jody Blackerby of Kress, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sisters: Winnie Earl Pearson and Zola Madelyn Hiles.
