George C. Washington(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—George C. Washington, 76, died Thursday, January 1, 2015 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Young officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2015 at the funeral home. George was born February 22, 1938 in Flomot to Omer and Mae Washington. He moved to Tulia in 1948. He graduated from Tulia High School. He was the head maintenance director of Texas Tech University for several years. He then worked for Texas Instruments in Lubbock before working for Clarendon Junior College as maintenance director. He moved back to Tulia in 2006. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: James, Arnold, Omer Jay and Earl Washington, three sisters: Melva Gene Martin, Betty Jo Watson and Peggy Danaker and one daughter: Clearcy Jane Washington. He is survived by one brother-in-law: Jerry Danaker of Greensboro, NC, one sister-in-law: Bernice Washington of Tulia and several nieces and nephews.
