Tulia, Texas—Tommy George Stratton, 76, of Tulia died January 12, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia with the Rev. Tommy Ewing officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Tommy was born June 24, 1938 in Tulia, to George A. and Theo Hood Stratton, one of four children. He attended elementary school in Tulia, graduating from Amarillo High in 1956 and attended Amarillo College.Tom worked for the federal government for 30 years as a mechanical engineer, beginning at Sanford Dam and various locations in Colorado, Farmington, NM and many locations in Arizona, retiring in 1993.While in Farmington he was a scout leader and belonged to the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In recent years he enjoyed the Golden Sandies Alumni Organization. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Genevia Dunn and husband Eddie, a brother: K.A. “Snort” Stratton, a sister: Janie Lee and husband Charlie, a niece: Janie Jr. Lee and his former wife: Francis “Toni” Stratton. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cleta Stratton of Tulia, daughter: Shirley Stratton of Carrolton, two sons: Kevin Stratton and wife Nikki of Sun City, AZ and Don Stratton of Carrolton, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A step-son: Brent Collins and wife Senja of Lubbock and a step-daughter: Diane Cusano and husband Jim of Chandler, AZ, a step-sister: Juanita Tucker and husband Leslie of Amarillo, a sister-in-law: Norma Stratton of Amarillo and several nieces and nephews.
