Melba Jo Jayroe Reed, 89, of Plainview, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 6, 2015 in the Chapel of Kornerstone Funeral Directors with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the funeral home. Jo was born on February 5, 1925 in Plainview, Texas to Lonnie and Eva Jayroe. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1942 and attended Wayland Baptist College. She married William Lloyd “Dub” Reed on April 26, 1942 in Clovis, N.M. She was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the PTA, member of the Toast Masters, and volunteered for many different orginizations. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Pastor’s Class. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was the best cook. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Dub Reed and a son, Stephen Mack Reed. Survivors include a daughter, Jolynn Reed Sweatt of Granbury; two sons, Ronald Lloyd Reed of Van Alstyne, TX, David Wayne Reed of Plainview; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials go to the Faith In Sharing House (FISH), 504 Joliet, Plainview, Texas 79072 or the Pastor’s Class in care of the First Baptist Church, 201 W. 8th St., Plainview, Texas 79072.
