Tulia, Texas—Gloria Ann Bryan, 78, died Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 23, 2015 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone, Pastor and Rev. Charles Davenport, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at the funeral home. Gloria Ann Goodwin was born on March 23, 1936 in Borger, TX to Robert E. and Evalyn Goodwin. After living in Phillips, Pampa and Dalhart her family moved to Tulia in 1950 where she graduated from high school in 1954, and married her high school sweetheart, R.L. “Butch” Bryan. After a brief time in Amarillo, they moved back to Tulia and spent the next 56 years there working and raising their family. In addition to being a homemaker, Gloria worked as an elementary school secretary for Tulia ISD for 26 years. After retirement, she enjoyed playing golf and being active in the Tule Lake Ladies Golf Association. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia and loved volunteering many years in the nursery and Vacation Bible School. In 2011, she and Butch moved to Raider Ranch Assisted Living Center in Lubbock to be closer to immediate family. After Butch’s death in 2012, Gloria remained at Raider Ranch Memory Care within the same facility. Mrs. Bryan is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by three brothers and their wives: Robert (Bob) C. and Linda Goodwin of Austin, William (Bill) and Penny Goodwin of Plano and John E. and Jeane Goodwin of Amarillo. Three children and their spouses: Regina and John Emmitt of Austin, Barbara and Johnny Young of Lubbock and Robert and Lynne Bryan of Nacogdoches. Six grandchildren: Jennifer and Brandon Kidd of Lubbock, Jaclyn and Cody Kelso of Austin, Erin Emmitt of Austin, Kristin Bryan, Shelbie Bryan and Valerie Cole of Nacogdoches. Four great grandsons: Weston and Wyatt Kidd of Lubbock, Camdyn Kelso of Austin and Aden Holligan of Nacogdoches. The family wishes to express thanks to the Area Community Hospice in Plainview and to the Raider Ranch Assisted Living Center and Memory Care in Lubbock.
