James D. Stair (Plainview)

James D. Stair, 71, of Plainview, passed away at 11:08 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center of Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2006 at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Stair was born on December 9, 1934 in Geronimo, Oklahoma to James Edward and Mamie Lee Green Stair. James had graduated from Plainview High School in 1952 and married Mary Ann Marble on July 10, 1956 in Lockney. He farmed six miles east of Plainview and lived in Plainview for sixty-six years and James was a member of the Plainview National Guard, President of Plainview Farm Bureau, High Plains Sportsmen Club, and Plainview Bass Club. James had been very active in the Plainview 4H Club and was a member of First Baptist Church. James is survived by his wife Mary Ann Stair; one daughter Cindy Stair Hathaway and husband John of Austin; three sons Gary Stair and wife Susan of Tyler, Jerry Stair of Round Rock, Koy Stair of Wolfforth; two brothers Robert Stair and wife Dorotha of Plainview, Charles Stair and wife Ann of Plainview; five grandchildren Lauren and Meredith Stair of Lubbock, Sarah and Katherine Stair of Tyler, and Connor Hathaway of Austin. Mr. Stair is preceded in death by his eldest son James Monty Stair. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131 A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
