He attended Kress High School where he graduated in May of 1961. He married the love of his life Carolyn on May 20, 1961. They had ran off and tried to elope in February of 1961. They made it all the way to Roswell, NM and stopped at Carolyn’s aunt’s house. Her aunt called her parents and told them what they had done and her father’s exact words were; “They can either go home or go to jail,” so they went home, then had a church wedding in Edmonson First Baptist Church. He loved to farm and was a farmer his whole life and he farmed with a Red International Tractor, not green. He loved and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they were very special to him. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kress where he was an usher for many years. He loved to travel and go camping when he could and he loved to be out in his barn. His barn was the meeting place when his friends came over. He loved to have a get together whether it was a family gathering or just friends. John Wayne and the Triple Crown winning horse Secretariat were his heroes. He was an avid Texas Longhorn fan and he had to watch all the games together with his grandson Lance.
