Tulia, Texas--James Ross O'Daniel, 87, of Tulia, Texas died Friday, May 22, 2015 in Canyon, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 26th at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone and Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Ross was born in Tulia, Texas on Feb 2, 1928 to the late James Pat and Euphemia O'Daniel. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1946 and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950. Ross married Marilyn Faye Chick on June 17, 1950 in Lubbock and were together for over 64 years. Ross established a home west of Tulia where he worked hard as a farmer, truck driver, carpenter, and father of three sons. He was active in the First Baptist Church, Farmer's Union, Swisher Electric Cooperative, and the Texas Tech Alumni Association. Ross was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Algene Barker. Ross is survived by his wife Marilyn currently living in Canyon; three sons--Dale and wife Charlotte of Tulia, Pat and wife Mary Jane of Brownfield, Gary and wife Angela of Clovis; five grandchildren--Aarika Proctor and husband Russell of Tulia, Ryan O'Daniel and wife Angela of Springfield, Virginia, Sarah Long and husband Alex of McKinney, Texas, Quinn O'Daniel of Clovis, and Ashlyn O'Daniel of Clovis; two great grandchildren--Mikayla and Breck Proctor of Tulia; and a host of other relatives and longtime friends.
