Ernest Ebeling, 86, of Kress, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 17, 2009, at First Church of the Nazarene in Plainview with Rev. Doug Yates officiating and Mr. Mark Leach assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be from 6-7 P.M., Friday, January 16, 2009, at the funeral home. Ernest grew up and attended schools in Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1941. He farmed in Claytonville for many years. He also worked at Pantex making Artillery Rounds during WWII. He co-owned EMCO and was the owner of Precision Flame. He worked until his health wouldn’t allow it. He was a former member of the Elk’s Lodge. He married Mary Ann Hartley on January 27, 1945 in Plainview. She preceded him in death on October 11, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Harriet Ebeling; and two brothers, Weldon Ebeling and Wade Ebeling. Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Roberta Leatherwood of Kress; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rudolph “Rudy” and Jane Ebeling, William “Bill” and Sherry Ebeling, Max and Kathy Ebeling all of Plainview; 22 Grandchildren, 32 Great-Grandchildren; a sister, Marguerite Butler of Plainview; three brothers, Victor Ebeling of Kress, Donald Ebeling and Franklin Ebeling, both of Plainview. Memorials may be sent to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, American Cancer Society, or Area Community Hospice.
