Tulia, Texas—Manuel M. Luera, 84, died Friday, June 5, 2015 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Arturo Meza officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Manuel was born on June 5, 1931 in Colorado City, Texas to Benjamin and Maria Luisa Luera. He grew up in Knickerbocker, TX. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Casimira Reyes in 1979. He and his brother Robert we’re carpenter’s for 35-40 years when he retired. He also was a longtime barber in Tulia at Luera’s Barber Shop. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son: Rodney Luera, a brother: Robert Luera and a sister: Mary Helen Ontivarez. His family includes four sisters: Lupe Luera of Tulia, Amelia Suiter of Florida, Micelia Ramirez of Tulia and Ophelia Garcia of Tulia, two brothers: Pete Luera of Guymon, OK and Ben Luera of Tulia and several nieces and nephews.
