William Rickey Cox, 64, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Rick was born on August 10, 1950 to William Waldo & Bettie Jeanne Cox in Lubbock, TX. He grew up in Abernathy and graduated from Abernathy High School in 1968. He went to South Plains College and received certificates in Radio and Electronics in 1970. He worked for the City of Lubbock and City of Abernathy before working for City of Plainview. He retired in 2005 after 35 years of service. For 33 years he was the Plainview’s street and traffic Superintendent. He was a member of Plainview Hi Plains Gem & Mineral Society and Parkview Baptist Church. Rick is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Denise Cox of Plainview, TX; two daughters, Jeriann Cox of Canyon, TX and Katie Cox of Plainview, TX; and one sister, Jerilyn Cox of Arlington, TX.
