Tulia, Texas---William “Bill” Furgeson, 73, died Friday, January 23, 2009 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 in the Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Bill was born on June 18, 1935 in Taylorville, Illinois to Bill and Erma Furgeson. He grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas. After his father’s death in 1949 they lived with Bill’s grandparents. He graduated from Valley View High School in 1953. He later joined the US Air Force and served 4 years. After his discharge he worked in agriculture related jobs. He came to Tulia in 1965 where he started working for Ziegler Wimberly Implement. He married Claudette Hutson on December 22, 1966 becoming the father of her three sons. He worked for Taylor Evans Seed Company. He then was a truck driver for Groendyke Trucking for 19 years before he retired. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1999. He is survived by his wife; Claudette Furgeson of Tulia, three sons; Larry Freeman of Canyon, Jimmy Freeman of Bridgeport and Randy Baker of Tulia, two sisters; Sue Spinner of Pana, Illinois, Sally Root of Taylorville, Illinois, two brothers; Bob Furgeson of Owaneco, Illinois and Fred Furgeson of Pana, Illinois, five grandchildren; Kristen and Lauren Freeman, Josh Freeman, Alyssa and Trey Baker, one great grandson; Luke Freeman and 8 step-grandchildren.
