Tulia, Texas—Mary Lee Montgomery McClurg, 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Lubbock. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia with Rev. Matt Wolfington, pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Lubbock, officiating. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 17, 2015 in the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3708 45th St., Lubbock, Texas. Mary Lee Montgomery McClurg was born on October 13, 1938 in Tulia and was the only child of James Newton and Ruby (Keeling) Montgomery. Mary graduated from Tulia High School and regarded Tulia as her hometown even after many years of living in Lubbock. She married William Clifford (Ferd) McClurg on July 10, 1975. He preceded her in death in 1997. Mary’s father owned several farms near Vigo Park and Tulia. She became the manager after her father’s death, but her passion was genealogy. Mary was a member of many heraldry organizations but her favorite was Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. Mary played a major role in bringing the historic Flowerdew Hundred Post Mill from Virginia to the Windmill Museum in Lubbock. Mary is survived by many cousins and friends. Memorials may be made to the American Wind Power Center, 1701 Canyon Lake Dr., Lubbock, Texas 79403 or to the Swisher County Museum, 127 NW 2nd St., Tulia, Texas 79088.
