Sue Marie Smith (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Sue Marie Smith, 78, died Friday, July 17, 2015 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 20, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Tulia with Rev. Jason Stone officiating. A Graveside service will follow at the Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, Oklahoma at 4:00 pm. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Sue was born January 7, 1937 to Emra and Mattie Hazelbaker in Custer City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Seiling High School in 1955. She was married to Meredith Gaylord and soon lost him in a car accident that year. She had a son with him, Meredith Leon. She married Albert M. Smith Jr. in 1958 and had two daughters, Diana and Penny. Sue and Al enjoyed working and teaching in their church, gardening, traveling in their RV and visiting with their family and friends. They were members of the First Baptist church of Clinton, Oklahoma and then after Al passed, Sue moved to Tulia and joined the membership of Tulia First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents: Emra and Mattie Hazelbaker; her first husband: Meredith Gaylord; her second husband: Albert Smith, Jr.; one son: Meredith Smith; one brother: Johnny Hazelbaker; one sister: Patricia Ann Hazelbaker. Her family includes her two daughters: Diana Machelle Brumley and husband Donnie of Plainview,TX; Penny Sue Marten and husband Bill of Tulia,TX; two brothers: Richard Hazelbaker of Baxter, TN and Kenneth Hazelbaker of Amarillo, TX; one sister: Kathryn Palmer of Euless, TX; seven grandchildren: Matthew Smith, Nathan Smith, Justin Brumley, Jordan Hayes, Ryan Marten, Emarie Marten and Aubry Mabry; eight great grandchildren and twins on the way.
