Tulia, Texas-Viola Elizabeth Pohlmeier, 86, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 in Missouri. Vigil and rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in the Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 30, 2015 in the same church with Rev. Ken Keller and Rev. Marco Gonzales officiating. A funeral meal for family and friends will follow the mass with burial at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Holy Family Cemetery in Nazareth. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Viola was born July 8, 1929 in Nazareth to John and Meta Stork. She grew up in Nazareth and graduated from Nazareth High School in 1946. She married Virgil Pohlmeier on August 23, 1950 in Nazareth. They moved to Tulia from Plainview in 1950 where she was a beautician owning her own shop in Tulia for over 40 years. After retirement she continued to volunteer at the Tulia Nursing Home in providing hair services to the residents of the nursing home. She also was a Swisher Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for many years and received the RSVP volunteer of the year award in 2011. Viola was a long time active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia where she was a lector and member of the choir along with helping with all parish events and funeral meals for families. Her greatest pastime was maintaining her beautiful flower garden and baking her delicious cinnamon rolls to be given to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil in 2004 and her parents, one brother, three sisters, one grandson and one great granddaughter. Survivors include one daughter, Maureen Self and husband James of Hereford, two sons, Brian Pohlmeier and wife Peggy of Plainview and Alan Pohlmeier and wife Cathi of Branson West, Missouri; three sisters, Evelyn Hill of Lubbock, Lola Jean Bell of Granbury and Delores Heiman of Nazareth; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit Memorial Fund, 511 S. Austin, Tulia, Texas 79088 or to the Tulia Hospital Auxiliary Fund, 534 SE 2nd, Tulia, Texas 79088.
