Waylon Ray Johnson, 76, of Plainview passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Garland Street Church of Christ with Mr. Carl Smiley officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, July 30, at the funeral home. Waylon was born on September 8, 1938 in Chalk, Texas to Ira and Winnie Johnson. He grew up in Paducah helping his father on the farm. He later ran a gas station for several years. He became a Machinist and worked for Green Machinery, Stapleton Brothers, Hamby Company, and D&J. He was a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ. Waylon was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Joy Johnson; parents; two brothers, Huel and Marlin Johnson; three sisters, Thelma Yowell, Mildred Ryan, Betty Webb; and one grandson, Jermey Ellena. Survivors include his three children, Debbie Hearn and husband Rodney of Plainview, Eddie Johnson and Sandie Martin of Welch, Oklahoma, Jennie Reese and husband Charley of Lubbock; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
