Hazel Schwartz, 101, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Schwartz was born May 27, 1914 in Alvord, Texas to James William & Lou Ella Simpkins. She moved with her parents to Throckmorton in a covered wagon with her 4 brothers and three sisters in 1926 then to Munday, Texas and to Sagerton, Texas in 1928, this is where she met her husband Jimmie Schwartz, Sr. They married in Haskell, Texas on April 2 1932 and moved to Plainview in 1942. She worked for Bealls, Nichols Hospital and Clinic and was bookkeeper for her husband’s business Jimmie’s Refrigerator for 17 years. Mrs. Schwartz was a member of First Baptist Church, the Pastor’s Sunday School Class, did volunteer work with R.S.V.P. and enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, seven brothers, six sisters, two sons and one son-in-law. Survivors include two daughters: Frances Keeter of Hereford and Mary Sue Swanner & husband Jackie of Midland; two daughters-in-law: Rosa Schwartz of Surprise, Arizona and Jerry Schwartz of Round Rock, Texas; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren.
