Heaven has gained a beautiful angel, Manuela Villalpando Guajardo, 95, died on Wednesday August 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Rosary services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015 and Friday, September 4, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Guajardo was born on January 7, 1920 in Ballinger, Texas to the late Lucio and Augustina (Rodriguez) Villalpando. She married Claudio Guajardo in 1952 in Plainview. Mrs. Guajardo was a well known member of the community having been a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for 55 years. She loved gardening. Her greatest passion and talent was cooking. Mrs. Guajardo worked as a supervising cook for 30 years at the Texas Migrant Council Headstart Program. Her gift of hospitality was her trademark. She could prepare a full course meal in just a few minutes if you stopped by to see her. Her front door was open welcoming us always with a smile. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Claudio Guajardo, sons Willie Torres, Sr. and Paul Guajardo, a brother Raymundo Villalpando, a sister Juana Ramos and great grandson Manuel Enrique Carrasco, great granddaughter Teresa Uselton and several nieces and nephews. Those left to cherish her memory are one son: Peter Guajardo of Plainview; two daughters: Gloria Guajardo of Amarillo and Melissa Plasencio that was a blessing and brought her youth and laughter of Plainview; two sisters: Martina Torres of Plainview and Ramona Vera of Amarillo; Sr. y Sra. Guajardo’s special friend that loved her grilled cooking, Dora Flores of Uvalde; She celebrated her sixth generation. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren, two great great great grandchildren and one great great great great grandchild.
