Sylvia Mirta Gonzales, 58, of Plainview passed away on August 30, 2015 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M.Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the True Vine Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held at 6 P.M Wednesday evening followed by a memorial service at 7 PM in the Kornerstone Funeral Chapel. Sylvia was born on May 25, 1957 in Greely, Colorado to Phillip and Lilly Vargas. She grew up in Tulia and attended schools there. She married Silvino Gonzalez on March 16, 1981. She was a homemaker whose passion was caring for children. As a mother, a nurturer, a guardian, and a guide, Sylvia touched many lives, extending her love and home to many and offering that same tender love to all children she met. She will always be remembered for her selfless devotion to all she knew. Sylvia was a spiritual woman who was an active member of True Vine Pentecostal Church and involved in other volunteer Christian activities. She was known for her giving of handcrafted gifts, each with a special personal meaning. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and all who were touched by her gentle spirit. Beloved wife to Silvino Gonzalez of the home; mother to Alice Gonzalez of Plainivew and Embrosia Gonzales of Plainview; three brothers, Phillip Vargas of Plainview, Jose Vargas of Plainview, Armando Vargas of Minnesota; four sisters, Abigail Vargas of Oklahoma, Barbara Vargas of Plainvew, Gracie Vargas-Adams of Galveston, Juanita Ortega of San Antonio; and five grandchildren, Isaac Diaz, Miranda Diaz, Mariah Diaz, Isaiah Diaz, Josiah Gonzales.
