Jimmy Cummings (Plainview)

James Louis “Jimmy” Cummings, 77, died on Tuesday September 1, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Carrol Green officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Cummings was born on May 12, 1938 to Julius & Adele Ratliff Cummings. He married Mary Kay Duvall on March 23, 1957. He moved to Anton in 1943 and to Floyd County in the late 1940’s. Mr. Cummings graduated from Plainview High School in 1956. He farmed in Floyd and Hale Counties for many years and retired in 1996. He was a 4-H leader for many years. Mr. Cummings served on the Board of Farm Bureau and Hale Center Senior Citizens, He was a member of the Plainview Chapter of Young Farmers and the South Plains Chapter of the 2 cylinder club. He attended the First Baptist Church of Hale Center. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rudy Cummings. He is survived by his wife: Mary Kay Cummings of Hale Center; three children: Chris Cummings & wife Jane of Hale Center, Renee Hrbacek & husband Ricky of Lockney and Donna McCarter & husband Barney Bill of Lockney; three brothers: Donald Cummings of Florida, Larry Cummings of Plainview and Kenneth Cummings of Kingwood; one sister: Julia Blount of Cotton Center; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
