L.M. Ballinger, 86, of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Hale Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 12, 2015 in Plainview Memorial Park with Dr. Donnie Peal, son-in-law officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. L.M. was born on October 11, 1928 to O.E. and Lillian Ballinger. He grew up on the South Plains and panhandle of Texas. He operated a moving company for a few years before going to work for Hale County. He worked for Precinct 1 for many years before retiring. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed playing dominoes and drinking coffee at McDonalds and other places. He married Bill Jean Sarver and was married for 18 years. He then married Jean Denton on May 28, 1971 and she preceded him in death 2006. He was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Billie Love Gray, and five brothers and one sister. L.M. is survived by one daughter, Wanda Peal and husband Donnie of Tulsa, Ok; one son, Lawrence “Tiny” Ballinger of Plainview; four step sons, Joe Cozby of Plainview, Keith Jones and wife Keita of Hale Center, Dennis Jones and wife Sandy of Houston, Mike Jones of Lubbock; 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. The family suggests memorials to Interim Hospice of Plainview.
