Castula Ramirez Alvarez(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas— Castula Ramirez Alvarez, 92, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 26, 2015 in the Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with Mr. Joe Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Castula was born on March 27, 1923 to Santiago and Presiliana Ramirez in San Marcos, Texas. She married Juan Santana Alvarez (Lagrima) on August of 1958. They lived in Corpus Christi for several years and later moved to Tulia in 1967. She worked a seasonal job at North Plains Compress in Tulia and also worked for the Tulia Independent School district for 10 years. She was a housewife and always took care of her children and loved to garden. Her husband Juan Santana preceded her in death on February 3, 2014. She was loved by her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law and her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings: Concha Mejorado, Consuelo Ruiz, Trinidad Amador and Cleotilde Ramirez. She is survived by her children: Irma Scheffer of Amarillo, Joe Alvarez and wife Lydia of Amarillo, Ortencia Valdiviezo and husband Jose of Amarillo and Juan Alvarez, III and wife Linda of Fort Wayne, Indiana, one brother: Sala Ramirez of Beaumont, three sisters: Margarita Prieto of Pontiac, Michigan, Janie Ramirez and Tomasa Ramirez both of Corpus Christi , thirteen grandchildren: Vanessa Scheffer, Billy Joe Alvarez, Frankie Alvarez, Brenda Alvarez, Juan Santiago Alvarez, David Alvarez, Mateo Alvarez, Joey Alvarez, Amos Alvarez, Eric Ramirez, Israel Ramirez, Toni Walker and Rosie Rosales and numerous great grandchildren.
