Verda Marie Moody of Plainview passed away October 18, 2015. Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 21, 2015 at 10 o’clock AM in the Chapel at the First United Methodist Church in Plainview, Texas with Dr. Max Browning officiating and Rev. Jeff Taylor assisting. Burial will follow at the Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. The family will gather to receive friends Tuesday October 20, 2015 from 5 to 6:30 PM at Kornerstone Funeral Directors, 3605 S W 3rd St. in Plainview, Texas (exit 48 off I27). Marie was born August 4, 1928 in Hale Center, Texas to the late William Tulley Ross & Lettie Maud (Warren) Ross. Marie married Johnny Cornell Moody January 5, 1957 in Clovis, NM. Johnny passed away January 29, 1989. Marie was employed for 35 years by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a life time member of the Telephone Pioneers’. Marie was a craftsman and was one of the first three women nationwide to have this position. She was active member of the First United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the Harmony Sunday School class and Iva Wheeler Circle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, her son Gary Norman Bennett, son-in-law Tim Skaggs, grandson Chris Robertson, a sister Norma Faye (Ross) Walls, and a brother Raymond Clayton Ross. She is survived by two daughters Kaye Robertson and husband Carl of Lubbock, TX, Suzy Skaggs of Hale Center, TX, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, one nephew and three nieces.
