James Acker, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth, Texas at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday October 24, 2015 with Father Ken Keller and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating. Burial will follow at the Holy Family Cemetery in Nazareth, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia, Texas. A rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday October 23, 2015 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia, Texas. James was born on October 21, 1926 to Andrew and Catherine Acker in Nazareth, Texas. He was one of twelve children. He grew up and attended schools in Nazareth until he graduated in 1945. After graduation he joined the United States Army. After the Army he moved back to Nazareth where he farmed for many years. After farming he worked for Swisher County for 17 years until he retired. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife Pearl Acker of Plainview, TX; two daughters; Carri Brekeen and husband Walt of Mansfield, TX and Sherry Acker of Amarillo, TX; two sons; Larry Acker of Duncan, OK and Garry Acker and wife Kanda of Lubbock, TX; one brother Jerry Acker and wife Judy of Nazareth, TX; three sisters; Regina Warren of San Antonio, TX, Aurelia Schoenenberger of Happy, TX and Josetta Heinrich and husband Franklin of Slaton, TX; three grandchildren; Aaron, Corey and J.T.
