Charles J Whitsett 79 0f Friendswood, Texas. Passed away on November 3rd 2015. Charles was born in Tulia, Texas in 1935 to Jewel and Electa Whitsett. He attended school in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School where he met the love of his life, Monette Andrus. They were married for 59 years. He graduated from Baylor University where he majored in accounting, and was a member of Air Force ROTC. After graduating from college he joined the Air Force to pursue his lifelong dream to be a pilot. After serving in the Air Force for nine years as a fighter pilot he left active duty to fly for Delta Airlines; and continued his military career in the Texas Air National Guard at Ellington AFB, Houston, Texas, serving a total of 31 years of military service. His airline career with Delta Airlines spanned 28 years. Upon retirement he began to do volunteer work for the schools that his grandchildren attended in the Clear Creek Independent School District. He and Monette enjoyed traveling with family and friends abroad and well as in the United States. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Jewel and Electa Whitsett, his son Stephen Whitsett, and a nephew Jimmy Fox. He will be remembered for his humor, empathy and for taking care of his family. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Monette Whitsett of the home. A daughter Jana and husband Joe Vaughn of Tulia, Texas; two sisters Alta Fox and husband Alvin of Tulia and Doris Watson of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren Ryan Maney and wife Monica of Shanghai, China; Crystal Bouma and husband Waylon of Friendswood, Texas; and Justin Whitsett also of Friendswood; three great grandchildren that made his eyes sparkle whenever they were around. They are Sierra and Cora Maney of Shanghai, China; and Wade Bouma of Friendswood. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Stephen F. Whitsett of Friendswood, Texas, passed away at his home on July 28, 2015 at the age of 48 after a lengthy illness. Stephen was born March 16, 1967 in Lubbock, Texas to Charles and Monette Whitsett. He moved at an early age with his parents and sister to Friendswood, Texas, which is a suburb of Houston. Stephen attended school in the Clear Creek Independent School District graduating in 1985 from Clear Creek High School. Stephen was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and four wheeling. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and family. He especially liked trips to the Colorado Mountains, fishing, and four wheeling with family. He worked with the railroad until his health began to fail. Stephen is survived by his parents: Charles and Montette Whitsett of Freindswood, Texas. A sister: Jana and husband Joe Vaughn of Tulia, Texas, a daughter: Crystal and husband Waylon Bouma and a grandson Wade Bouma of Friendswood, a son: Justin Whitsett of Friendswood, a nephew: Ryan and wife Monica Maney and their two daughters of Shanghai, China. He is also survived by many family members and friends. A visitation will be held for both on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia, Texas from 5:30 -7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held for both on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia, Texas.
