Maria Tobar (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Maria C. Tobar, 95, died on November 6, 2015, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, November 9, 2015 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Marco Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 6:00pm at Church of the Holy Spirit. Maria was born on November 18, 1919 in Runge, TX to Manuel and Ester Castaneda. She married Abundio Tobar in Lampasas, TX in 1938. Abundio preceded her death in 1952 and afterward she came to live in Tulia. She worked in restaurants, local dry cleaners, Wallace Funeral Home before retiring from Heard and Jones after 40 years. Maria is a member of the Guadalupanas and a Cursillista. She is preceded in death by her parents: Manuel and Ester Castaneda, her husband:Abundio Tobar, her daughter: Lucia Tobar, two sisters: Manuela De La Rosa and Lola Tobar. She is survived her children: Severa Salas of Kenedy, TX, Maria Serna of Plainview, TX, Savina Castaneda of Tulia TX, Santos Tobar of Albuquerque, NM, Justo Tobar of Nisland SD., Ramona Reyes of Happy, TX, Martin Tobar of Belle Fourche SD, Lucio Tobar of Panama City, Fl and Maria Magdalena of McGregor, TX, one sister: Emilia Tobar of Temple, TX, and many grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
