Clarence Raymond Byrd (Plainview)

C.R. Byrd, 89, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. C.R. was born on December 10, 1925 in Petersburg, Texas to Andrew and Laura Byrd. He grew up in Petersburg and attended schools there. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war, he returned and farmed around Petersburg and Kress. He was served on the school board for Kress ISD for many years. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Totsy; his parents; daughters, D.K. Parker, Cindy Reed; son, Lyndon Byrd. Survivors include two daughters, Mistee Dorman of Lubbock, Dainne Hale and husband Cris of Dallas; one son, Rick Criswell of Olton; one sister, Pansy Tullis and husband Ronald of Abernathy; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to University Medical Center NICU, Children’s Miracle Network, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
