Hobby Thomas, Jr., 82, of Hale Center, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, in Olton. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Hale Center with Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Thomas was born on October 13, 1926, in Plainview, Texas to Hobby & Walta Thomas. He married Christine Grantham on December 22, 1951, in Clovis, New Mexico. He had attended the New Mexico Military Institute for one year. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Chris Thomas of Hale Center; two daughters, Tammy Diggs & husband Frank of White Deer and Laura Spencer & husband Steve of Plainview; one son, Hobby Thomas, III of Arlington; one sister, Millie Armstrong of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Dondi & Cody Spencer and Becky & Jake Diggs and several nieces and nephews.
