Maria J McKinney (Plainview)

Maria J. McKinney, 88, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Roger Foote officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. McKinney was born on July 2, 1920, in Freising, Bavaria, Germany, the youngest daughter of Johann and Magdalena (Reith) Mooser. She married Ray L. McKinney of Plainview, Texas on February 28, 1953, in Freising, Germany. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1955 and settled in Cheyenne, after her husband’s tour of duty ended in Korea. She went to work for the State of Wyoming in January 1956 and retired after 27 years of service in March 1983. Maria enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working in her garden. Mrs. McKinney is survived by her husband, Ray L. McKinney, her son, Gerry McKinney & wife Mary, two grandchildren, Debra Gilbreath & husband Todd, Michael McKinney & wife Jamie, six great grandchildren, Hunter, Alexis, Brooklyn, Braxton, Justin and Jaycie, all of Plainview, Texas and a nephew, Dietmar Steck of Freising, Germany. She was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Resi Bierner and Leni Steck and a nephew Karl Heinz Steck.
