Kay Cate, 64, of Plainview passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Brother Joe Johnson of Faith Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Cate was born on January 8, 1945, in Stratford, Texas, to Kenneth Eugene and Bernice Josephine Haynes. She grew up in West Texas. She married Charles Cate on January 28, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She loved camping, sewing and making pamphlets and books for the church. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Charles Cate of Plainview; two sons, Kenneth Cate & wife Tonya of Plainview and Charles Gregory Cate of Lubbock; two daughters, Shonda Radke & husband Michael of Wichita, KS and Tina Collins & husband Eric of Elma, WA; two brothers, Kenneth Larry Haynes of Sierra Vista, AZ and Charles Russell Haynes of Yukon, OK; two sisters, Frida Dale Hendricks of Sweetwater and Lanora Keebler of Canton, MI, and ten grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 2514 82nd St, Ste. B, Lubbock, TX 79423, the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Rd., #12-A, Lubbock, TX 79424, the Multiple Sclerosis National Society, 1220 W. Broadway St., Lubbock, TX 79401, or the Faith Baptist Church Youth Department, 1301 Vernon St., Plainview, TX 79072.
