Services for Jim Bob Curry, 91, will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Dr. Carrol Green officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. The family will have visitation at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Monday, December 21, 2015 from 6:00 -7:30 P.M. Mr. Curry was born September 22, 1924 in Tahoka, Texas to Wiley and Ora Isham Curry. He died December 19, 2015 in Hale Center, Texas. He married Hattie Jo Barham on June 19, 1942 in Tahoka, Texas and they have been married for 73 years. He served during World War II in the United States Army. He was a farmer in Hale County for over 69 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center. He served as Chairman for the Democratic Party for Hale County. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Hale Center Co-op Gin for 65 years and served on the Board for the American Cotton Growers, the Denim Mill and Plains Cotton Cooperative Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Dewey Lee, Otis, Albert, Cecil and Dan Curry and two children, Betty Jane and Bobby Joe Curry. He is survived by his wife Hattie Jo, 2 daughters, Jan Edwards of Lubbock and Joan Isbell of Kansas City, MO and a son, Jim N. Curry of Hale Center, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. The family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Center, 7155 Oakridge Drive, San Antonio, TX 78229 and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF.org
