Tulia, Texas—Frank A. Sharp, 86, died at 9:11am Sunday, March 19, 2006 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in the Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia with Rev. Jeffrey Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mr. Sharp was born November 14, 1919 in Plainview. He attended schools there, Corpus Christi and Nazareth before graduating from Tulia High School in 1936. He attended Texas Tech for 3 ½ years before he went into the Army Air Corps on June 16, 1942 at Shepherd Fields AFB in Wichita Falls. He was an airplane maintenance tech. and also served in England and France during WWII for 2 ½ years where he received the Bronze Star. He returned to Castro County in 1945 and started farming. He married Josie Smith on October 18, 1946 in Tulia. They met when he was 13 and she was 9. He is a former commander of the American Legion in Nazareth and was a member of the VFW in Tulia. He is survived by his wife, Josie Sharp of Tulia, two daughters, Cathy Hollis of Arlington and Martha McRee of Tulia, three sons, Steven Sharp of Tulia, Dan Sharp of Wills Point and Brad Sharp of Tulia, four nephews, William Franklin Clifford of Piedmont, Oklahoma, James Thomas Clifford of Amarillo, Geoffrey Todd Clifford of Dallas and Christopher Edward Clifford of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Al and Irene Sharp, two sisters, Doris Sharp and Carol Shirley Clifford. Memorials may be made to the Tulia Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 116, Tulia, Texas 79088.
