Johnnie Moore (Plainview)

Johnnie Moore, 92, of Plainview passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 4, 2016 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors with Fred Willis officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. in Sundown Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Moore was born on April 27, 1923 in Grady, Oklahoma to James & Lorene Strickland. She married James William Moore on December 27, 1941 in Warrika, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1996. In 1942 Johnnie and James (Jim) moved to Sundown Texas where she lived for the next 60 years. While James worked in the oil field, Johnnie attended South Plains College and received a degree in Vocational Nursing in 1959, the college's very first graduating class. Johnnie worked as a nurse for over 30 years in Levelland and Morton. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and ceramics. Johnnie loved the Lord and was very much involved in the First United Methodist Church of Sundown. Johnnie always had an infectious smile and a big laugh. The Family would like to thank the staff at the Sante Fe Place in Plainview for their care of Johnnie over the past 7 years. She was preceded in death by; one brother: Glenn Strickland; one sister: Mary Ruth Icenhower and one son-in-law: William George Bain. She is survived by one daughter: Janet Bain of Plainview; one granddaughter: Shanna Pritchard & husband Brandon of Plainview; three grandchildren: Lauren Pritchard, Cole Pritchard and Cade Pritchard all of Plainview and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Plainview Humane Society.
