Billy Joe George, 83, of Tulia passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Bob Colson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Bill was born October 19, 1925 in Tulia, Texas to Walter and Olive George. The George family lived for a number of years on the Rodger’s Ranch east of Tulia. Bill enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served as an aircraft mechanic. Bill made a career of printing for the Tulia Herald and after retirement, became a self-employed printer. Bill loved people and had many hobbies and talents from art, toy maker, building hot rods, woodwork to sports and teaching people the love of God. Bill married Jetuan Clevenger in Clovis, New Mexico in 1948. He is survived by his four children: Melody Jennings and husband Ray of Tulia; Mickie Deal and husband Jack of Statesboro, Georgia; David George of Tulia; and Monica Barror and husband Lloyd of Midland. Also surviving are six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren who loved him dearly. Four brothers and two sisters survive: Brothers, Kenneth George of Lubbock; Robert George of Morton; Benny Wayne George of Hurst; and Tommy George of Kress; Sisters, Gladys Fambro of Tulia, and Carol Faye Barrett of Fort Worth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jetuan Clevenger George; his parents, Walter and Olive George; three brothers, L.G. George, Charlie George, Jack George; one sister, Sylvia Love; and one grandson, Newly Blocker. Visitation will be from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
