Myrt Wilder, 72, of Plainview passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 11, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Wilson officiating and Dr. Max Browning assisting. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Kornerstone. Myrt was born on June 22, 1943 in Amarillo to J.B. and Ruby Bryant. She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School. She then received an Associate’s Degree from Amarillo College. She married David Wilder on June 5, 1965 in Amarillo, Texas. She worked for Merrill-Lynch in Amarillo for several years before working as a substitute for Bob Castleberry’s Brokerage office in Plainview. Myrt was a stay at home mother until the children were out of the house. She was currently the Co-Owner and secretary for P&E Leasing. “Aptly described as a “superwoman”, Mrs. Wilder a bundle of energy”, from the Plainview Daily Herald Woman of the Year which she won in 1988. Myrt was a member of many organizations where she volunteered her time and efforts to better the communities that she loved. Myrt was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Morning Light Sunday School class and Circle One. She was on the Board for the Rainbow Room, Amarillo College Alumni Board, West Texas State Women’s Society, Wayland Sally Society. She was a member of a Bridge Group, Alpha Alpha Beta Sigma Phi, Gamma Delphin Study Club, P.E.O. Chapter CZ, past secretary of the United Way for 10 years, President of the Women’s Division Chamber of Commerce, and Active in the PTA, Newcomer’s Club, Red Rage Booster Club, and Community Concerts. Myrt and David also hosted players from Plainview Queens Classic and summer baseball tournaments. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Ruby Bryant; a son, Robert Wayne Wilder; a brother, Richard “Doc” Bryant; and a sister, Nora Pennington. She is survived by her husband David Wilder of Plainview; two sons, Brian David Wilder and wife Shawna of Verrado, Arizona, Scott Tyrone Wilder and wife Tiffany of Dallas; five grandchildren, Kolten Wilder, Wesley Whitaker, Shaylee Eagle, Kali McCloud, Brennen Mitchell; two brothers, Robert W. Bryant and wife Marge of Perryton, J.B. Bryant and wife Dixie of Lake Tanglewood; one sister, Tria Godwin and husband Jay of Canadian; and sister-in-law, Yvonne Bryant of Amarillo.
