Tulia, Texas—Helen Gail Boatright, 99, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Arlington. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mrs. Boatright was born in New Franklin, Missouri on December 29, 1909, the daughter of Carrie and Charles Stilwell. The family moved to Pryor, OK and subsequently to Muskogee, OK where Helen attended schools. After graduating from high school in 1926 she attended Oklahoma College for Women, Northeastern State University and Oklahoma University where she received a BS degree in Education. In 1935 she married Fred Henderson Boatright. Helen taught elementary grades in Muskogee, OK, Wagoner, OK and Tulia, Texas. She was a member of Delta Zeta, a national sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tulia. Survivors include her daughter Lynn Long and husband Bill of Grand Prairie, two grandsons; John Edward Harris of Texarkana and Carl Scott Harris of North Carolina, three great grandchildren; Corbin Harris, Tristen Harris and Mallory Harris, all of Texarkana. She is preceded in death by her husband; Fred Henderson Boatright.
