Bernice Pyle Mathis, 92, of Plainview passed away on Monday, February 2, 2016 in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Kornerstone. Bernice was born on August 20, 1923 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Esker and Rosie Pyle. She was a waitress for many years in San Angelo and in Plainview. She was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her father Esker Pyle; mother Rosie Pyle; brothers Arvel, Calvin and E.M. Pyle; sisters, Claudia Belt and Eunice Lynn; son Michael Ray Mathis; and granddaughter Ronda Mathis. She is survived by her son Larry Mathis and wife Janet of Odessa, Texas; grandson Billy Mathis of Odessa, Texas; granddaughter Danna Fillman and husband Tony of Odessa, Texas; great grandson Austin Mathis and wife Angela of San Angelo, Texas; great granddaughter Randa Hayes and husband Lance of Midland, Texas; niece LaGay James of Plainview, Texas; nephew Johnny Belt of Plainview, Texas; and four great great grandchildren, Carter Ray Mathis, Kai, Dax, and River Hayes of Midland, Texas.
