Russell Mekelburg (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Russell Howard Mekelburg, 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in Tulia. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Russell was born on January 10, 1944 in Yuma, Colorado to Raymond Carl and Lola Louise Mekelburg. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He served in the US Air Force and was discharged June 26, 1974. He married Alice Epperson on October 2, 1977 in Ft. Collins, CO. He worked for Hewlett-Packard for 9 ½ years and then with Woodward Computer Co. for 26 1/2/ years as a computer Administrator. He moved to Tulia in November 2015. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law: Mable Grace and Keith Brenton Epperson and a sister-in-law: Peggy Lou Osbourn. He is survived by his wife: Alice Mekelburg of Tulia, two daughters and sons-in-law: Michelle and Jose Villareal of Chesapeake, VA and granddaughter: Alexis Bixler of Norfolk, VA and Robin and Tate Shelton of Tulia and two grandsons: Dakota Schafer of Iowa, Dustin Shelton of Odessa, TX and two granddaughters: Torey Shelton and Emily Shelton, both of Odessa, TX, one son: Michael Mekelburg and girlfriend Brieanna of Birmingham, Al, and two sisters: Raenette Ellison and Laurie Mekelburg, both of Oden, Arkansas, his cousin: Roger Lair of Yuma, CO and all his coffee buddies.
