Ronnie Austin (Plainview)

Ronald James “Ronnie” Austin, 64, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Smith officiating and Mr. Oscar Chavez assisting. Burial will follow in Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Kornerstone. Ronnie was born on August 18, 1951 in Dimmitt, Texas to the late James Clifford and Melba Rose Austin. He grew up Lockney and graduated from Lockney High School in 1969. He farmed and ranched in Lockney and Kress communities for many years. He was also an E.M.T. and Volunteer Fire Fighter. He loved to fish and loved spending time with his grandchildren and was known to them as Pop. Survivors include his wife, Linda Austin of Plainview; five daughters, Mandy Duplechan of LeDonia, TX, Rebeccah Guerrero of Lockney, Lacy Phillips of Lockney, Katy Coleman of Ft. Worth, Jamie Austin of Plainview; step-son, David Wallace of Stigler, Ok; three sisters, Cliffa Bryan of Bloomfield, N.M., Vickie Stewart of Plainview, Debbie Belk of Plainview; 12 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
