Joe Luis Champion (Plainview)

Joe Luis Champion, 60, of Plainview passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be held at 6:30 P.M., Monday at the funeral home. Joe was born on June 29, 1955 in Lockney, Texas to Jimmy & Delores Champion. He married Florinda Mendoza on January 4, 2002 in Lockney, Texas. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife: Florinda Champion of Plainview; one daughter: Veronica Champion of Lubbock; one son: Sergio Champion of Plainview; his mother: Delores Champion of Lubbock; three step daughters: Patricia Roberts of Plainview, Carla Almanza of Dallas and Laura Almanza of Plainview; two brothers: Robert Champion of Amarillo and David Champion of Plainview; four sisters: Betty Champion of Navasota, Mary Garibay of Lubbock, Diana Long of Plainview and San Juanita Champion of McAllen and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Champion.
