Tulia, Texas— Jim W. Glasscock, 82, died Monday, May 4, 2009 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, May 7, 2009 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. James Hassell, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Olton Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Jim was born June 1, 1926 in Floydada. He started school at Matador and moved to Olton in 1939 where he grew up and attended schools. He was drafted into the US Army in 1944 and served until 1946 when he was discharged and returned to Olton. He married Patricia Bartlett on April 4, 1947 in Littlefield. He started working for Higginbotham-Bartlett Lumber Co. in Olton. They lived in Olton until 1955 when they moved to Earth and later moved to Littlefield in 1965 and to Tulia in 1966. He worked for Wilson-Nichols Lumber Co. in Tulia for 2-3 years before becoming a self-employed contractor where he built many, many houses in this area. Survivors include his wife: Pat Glasscock of Tulia, three sons: Danny Glasscock and Alan Glasscock, both of Tulia and Bob Glasscock of Runge, four grandchildren: Shawn Wayne and Tammy Glasscock of Burleson, Cristi and Ross Lajeunesse of Runge, Heather and Phil Graybull of Albuquerque, and Logan Glasscock of Taos, NM and four great grandchildren: Caleb Wayne Glasscock and Trisha Glasscock, both of Burleson, Crislynn Lajeunesse and Jerikay Lajeunese, both of Runge.
