Delbert E. Porter (Plainview)

Delbert E. “Joe” Porter, 78, of Petersburg, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006 in Crosbyton Hospital. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006 in Main Street Church of Christ in Petersburg with Owen Carr officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Porter was born on June 20, 1927 in Ralls, Texas to Hilton & Nettie Mae Porter. He married Leota Mosley on March 2, 1963 she passed away December 21, 1992. Mr. Porter grew up in Ralls and graduated from Ralls High School. He moved to Petersburg in 1947. Mr. Porter and his father operated an implement in Petersburg for several years. Mr. Porter served in the U.S. Army in the medical core until 1953. He then served in the reserves for four years. Mr. Porter was a member of Main Street Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter: Dianne Taylor of Petersburg; One Brother: H.L. Porter of Petersburg; One Sister: Mauna Nell Moore of Lorenzo; Two Grandchildren: Julie Daniel of Petersburg and Tamra Taylor of Amarillo; One Great Grandchild: Coda Daniel of Petersburg. Memorials may be made to Petersburg Cemetery in care of Petersburg City Hall.
