Silverton, Texas—Violet Thomas, 83, died Monday, May 18, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Silverton with Elder Frances Scott and Elder Don Martin officiating with burial in Silverton Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Violet was born May 2, 1926 in Silverton to Jody and Hattie Ziegler. She grew up in Silverton. She married B.A. “Buck” Thomas on December 4, 1942 in Silverton. They moved to Tulia in 1965. She worked for Star Grain as an Accountant for many years. They moved back to Silverton in the early 1980’s. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband and one son; Tony Richard Thomas. Survivors include one son; Allen Thomas and his wife Tish of Greenville, one daughter; Joy Wheat and her husband Jodie of Canyon, four sisters; Clara McCain and husband Larance of Lockney, June Gore and husband Doyal of Tulia, Faye Pointer of Quitaque and Jo Vaughn and husband Roy of Tulia, one brother; Riley Ziegler and his wife Lois of Silverton, four grandchildren; James Mercer and his wife Gretchen of Canyon, Lori O’Toole of Canyon, Shane Thomas and his wife Shelly of Greenville and Jodi Thomas of Los Angeles, California, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
