Tulia, Texas— Billie Ray Daniel, 73, died Monday, April 3, 2006 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in the 6th & Gaines Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mr. Daniel was born August 20, 1932 in Hood County, Texas. He grew up and attended schools there in Paluxy and Clovis, NM and Tulia. He served in the National Guard for 9 years in Tulia and he also worked for Mid-Plains Rural Telephone Co., Triangle Butane, Young & Ellis for 16 years. Then he owned and operated Bill’s Mobile Station, then Bill’s Fina Station. After he retired he was a driver for the Panhandle Community Services over 10 years and also worked for RSVP in Tulia. He was a member of the Tulia American Legion and 6th & Gaines Church of Christ. He married Charlie Mae Johnson of January 31, 1953 in Clovis, NM and she died December 27, 1996. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law; Joni and Wes Daniel-Ross of Tulia, two sons and daughters-in-law; Kirk and Bonnie Daniel of Tulia and Scott and Kris Daniel of Canyon, one brother and sister-in-law; Kenneth Maryann Daniel of Granbury, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Tulia Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 116, Tulia, Texas 79088.
