Tulia, Texas—Dave Edwards, 74, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2016 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone, pastor and Rev. Eddy Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Ralph David “Dave” Edwards was born on January 10, 1942 in Levelland to Porter and Lenora Edwards. He grew up in Crosbyton and graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1960 where he was a scholar athlete. He ran at the state track meet for two years while in high school and was very active in all sports. He attended Baylor University on a full football scholarship. He married Ethel Scott on September 19, 1964 in McAdoo. They lived in Crosbyton where he worked for the City of Crosbyton. They moved to Tulia in August 1966. He worked as a lineman for the City of Tulia for 15 years, worked for the USPS for 20 years and worked as a custodian for Tulia High School for about 5 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia. While living in Tulia he served on the City Council for several years and also served as Mayor of Tulia and City Judge. He was very active in the softball and volleyball leagues in Tulia. He was a Tulia Volunteer Fireman. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Ricky Edwards and two sisters: Patsy Cogdill and Betty Ross. His family includes his wife: Ethel Edwards of Tulia, his daughter and son-in-law: Angel and Wayne Morren of Floydada, his son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Jessica Edwards of Royse City, Texas, one sister: Linda Forbes of Crosbyton, two step-brothers: Melvin Bachman and Ronnie Bachman of Mansfield and his six grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Landry Morren and Kaylee Morren of Floydada, Christian Edwards, Channing Edwards, McKenna Edwards and Sophia Edwards of Royse City.
