Dorothy Sue Doan (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Dorothy Sue Doan, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:30 am in the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ernie McGaughey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 at the funeral home. Dorothy Sue was born on March 11, 1933 in Borger to D.C. and Mary Beaty. She graduated from Kress High School in 1951 and Lippert’s Business College in Plainview in 1952. She married James S. Doan on August 29, 1953. She was chairperson and founder of the Panhandle Chapter of the Texas Head Injury Foundation. She was a devoted caregiver to her son Len for 36 years until his death in 2013. She was a fantastic Mom and Grandma Dot to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a fantastic artist, seamstress, cook and decorator, just to mention a few of her talents. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tulia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son: Len Doan and her brother: Don Beaty. She is survived by three daughters: Suann Doan of Tulia, Kim Davis and husband Rick of Amarillo and Jan Meador and husband Keith of Dalhart, one sister: Mary Elizabeth Freeman of Corpus Christi, seven grandchildren: John Meador and wife Ellise of Umbarger, Jared Meador and wife Kendra of Amarillo, Jay Meador and wife Audrey of Hereford, Jaclen Smith and husband Andy of Midland, Jordan Meador of Midland, Whitney Fernandez of Canyon and Jordan Davis of Brownwood. Also fourteen great grandchildren: D.J., Kaleigh, Lainye, Kutter, Keelyn, Calvin, Harrison, Oliver, Remington, Kreely Meador and Hatcher Smith, Raylee, Ryan and Reece Fernandez.
