Don Stout (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Donald Stout, 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2:30 pm in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home chapel. Donald Stout was born on September 4, 1932 in Amarillo to John Henry and Opal Stout. He grew up in Claude and moved to Tulia his senior year in high school where he graduated from Tulia High School. He attended Wayland Baptist University for three years. He married Bettye Williams on August 30, 1952 in Springlake. He joined the US Air Force in December 1952 and was discharged in 1956. He returned to Tulia and farmed for 17 years. He worked in the Metal Trades Dept. at Tulia High School starting in 1973. He finished his education during the summer months and received his Masters degree. He was the Vocational Director and Assistant High School Principle and later became the Jr. High Principle. He retired in 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Patricia Lynn Stout and a brother: Jimmy Melton Stout. He is survived by his wife: Bettye Stout of Tulia, one daughter: Donna Flowers and husband Randy of Amarillo, two sons: James Stout and wife Kim Oliver of Center Point and Steve Stout and wife LaTonda of Tulia, one brother: Jerry Allen Stout of Edmond, OK, one sister: Sharon Louree Curry of Granbury, six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
